Agency Focus Huesman Insurance Group Relies on SIS During Changing Times Many insurance agencies undergo continuous changes in the quest for success. Huesman Insurance is one great example. The Cincinnati-based agency was formed in 1964 by Paul Huesman Sr. and later added a partner in 1981 to become Huesman-Schmid Insurance Agency Inc. Leslie Huesman-Helwig joined her father’s agency in 1984, later taking over a leadership role when he retired in 2003. In 2005, Leslie branched out on her own, forming the current Huesman Insurance Group. “When we split ways, I never even considered switching from Partner, which had been a great tool for us for so many years,” Leslie explained. “Beyond its user benefits, I wanted to make the change easy for the three employees that came with me. I wanted the split to be as least disruptive as possible.” Upon forming her own separate agency, Leslie turned to SIS for help transferring data from Partner. “On the very first day we opened, SIS had over-nighted us a disk with our client files, so there was no lag time during the shift. We simply uploaded the information and picked up work as if there was no change.” Leslie also used her new business as an opportunity to take advantage of other Partner benefits and added the Plus+ accounting module. Leslie explained that her accountant of 14 years had always done the books by hand. When the Plus+ system was incorporated, SIS helped train the accountant and the transition has been seamless. “We now have a complete understanding of every financial transaction in the system, which helps us better manage our business,” Leslie said. In January 2006, Huesman Insurance Group underwent another change when Leslie acquired Kolesar Insurance, a satellite office of Huesman-Schmid in nearby Hamilton, Ohio. “Kolesar Insurance had a number of loyal customers, but change can be scary, so we felt it was important for them to continue doing business under the original name.” SIS again helped transfer client data from Kolesar’s Partner system to Huesman’s. Clients can still be easily identified as Kolesar or Huesman customers within the combined database. The Huesman team has been a long-time fan of SIS and the Partner system and is continuing to show support by Beta testing the new Partner XE system. “We’re excited about Beta testing,” Leslie said. “We like getting a head start on the system. More importantly, I like that we get the opportunity to influence the outcome of the new management system.” Huesman Insurance Group is an illustration of the variety of client services SIS provides. No matter what changes you may face, SIS is flexible and committed to helping you succeed. |
